Prague

The next three posts I'm going to do are all from holidays I've had, starting with the oldest, Prague.  This was a family holiday, which was also my birthday present that year.  I fell in love with it as soon as I got there, despite the 30 degree heat.  It's such a beautiful, old city and I'd love to go back for winter to get some snowy shots of the Charles bridge.

An interesting performance by this homeless man, his dog and rat.

Inside the church within the castle walls, beautiful.

This is a photo taken from the Charles Bridge.

The astronomical clock up close and personal.

I have a funny feeling this little river street has a name with the word Devil in it...

If you go down to the woods today...

Annoyed at myself for being a few days late with this post, wanted to keep them regular every second Monday, it'll not happen again!  Anyways, I have a few photo's to share from Tollymore Forest, just outside Newcastle.  Such a beautiful place, first thing that I thought of was Lothlorien from Lord of the Rings.  The weather couldn't have been better apart from a little shower towards the end of the visit, but we could have done without all the midges..

I'll be honest, as shallow as the water between the stepping stones was, I was still pretty nervous crossing them...but they make for great pictures!

This is just a wee random one I had to take.  The water was so clear and I was so close to getting my socks and shoes off to go in for a wee paddle, but I had no towel...next time I'll be more prepared!

I loved this tiny lake in Tollymore, on the other side there was a Herron that I really wanted to get a picture of, but I got too close and scared it off.

I know this picture is pretty shaky, I forgot my tripod and wanted to take it with a slower shutter, but I think it still shows the beauty of Tollymore =)

I highly recommend Tollymore forest to everyone, it's a wonderful day out...especially when you go into Newcastle and get ice cream ^_^

The Emerald Garrison

I think we've established by now that photography is one of my main interests, another one is Star Wars costuming with The Emerald Garrison.  My own costumes are Padme's white battle outfit from Episode II and the Slave Leia gold bikini, I would love to own Stormtrooper armour though.  Here's a few pictures from some of our troops.

This Shock Trooper was taken in Armagh for the St. Patrick's day parade

These two clones were at an FG Wilson's fun day, as is the next shot of the Stormtrooper

This trooper is from the first Invasion Belfast, our main event in W5, this was the reason I joined the Emerald Garrison, and I haven't looked back!

If it bleeds, we can kill it.

This is quite an interesting post to write, as it's something a little out of the ordinary.  A few weeks ago I was baby-sitting Predators and managed to get some great shots of the guys.  The Emerald Garrison, a Star Wars costuming group, recently expanded into other sci-fi costuming, which led to the mini Invasion of Predators and the incredible creation of a jungle set in W5.  The shots were very difficult to get due to how dark the set was, but with a little help from photoshop I got the results I was after.

I really like this shot, just a random detail shot from the set.

Another detail shot of this really awesome helmet!!

Ohhh fishy, fishy, fishy, fish!

So, even though I have so much revision to be doing, I still found the time to go to Exploris!  It was worth it though, hadn't been since I was in primary school and I needed a break from studying.  It was pretty hard to photograph as it was so dark and flash photography wasn't allowed, I was just lucky most of the tanks were lit pretty well. The walk round didn't seem as long as when I was wee, but maybe that's because I'm bigger now...but the walk across the bridge above the massive tank still terrifies me!  We then took a little walk around Portaferry Castle and after that made our way to Scrabo Tower.  Here's a few of my favourite photo's from the day...enjoy =)

Kind of annoyed about this one, I really love the colours, but the tank was like a bubble so the picture got a bit distorted =(
I absolutely adored this little guy!! I want one!!

First Post =D

So this is my very first post of, hopefully, a long line of photography posts.  Photography has been my number one hobby for 4/5 years, but it's always been there since I was little.  I still remember going for walks with my dad and he had this gorgeous film SLR, I'll always remember taking my first photo with it and from that moment on I wanted my very own.  Now I'm the proud owner of a Canon 400D and I love it!!  Still want one of those old film SLR's though.

Tonight was the Queen's University Belfast Photographic Society's Summer Exhibition and it went brilliantly!  This pleases me as I'm the new President of the society.
Since this is my first post I'll put some of my old work, but I hope to add new photo's as I post, if I ever find the time to take any! =)

This picture won me first place in the photographic exhibition =)
